See the business position before opening the job detail
Business Snapshot is a starting point for understanding the business as a whole. It combines year-to-date totals with charts for your chosen period. Use it to identify which question needs attention, then move into the relevant report or source record to investigate the work behind the number.

An overview needs clear definitions
A roofing owner may want to know whether a strong revenue period also brought in new customers. A cleaning business may need to separate collected money from the value of scheduled jobs. Looking at one total cannot answer every question about growth, work mix and payment.
An overview becomes useful when the team agrees on what each measure represents. Keep year-to-date figures distinct from charts for a selected period. Check the date range before comparing a chart with another number, and avoid treating a partial current period like a finished one.
The home-service KPI dashboard overview explains how these measures fit into a broader reporting routine. Business Snapshot is the place to begin that routine, with detail available when a particular movement needs an explanation.
Read the totals and selected-period charts
Business Snapshot shows year-to-date revenue, year-to-date new customers, year-to-date collected revenue and the number of unscheduled customers. Collected revenue means revenue from scheduled jobs minus the amount still outstanding on those jobs. It is a defined revenue measure, not a calculation of company net profit.
For the period you select, the report charts revenue, revenue by job type, estimates given, new customers and cancelled jobs. Each appears against its goal where one is set. Every chart shows the previous period alongside the current one, so you can see the direction of the change.
Business Snapshot and Pipeline also group customers by months since their last job: 0–3, 4–6, 6–12, 12–18 and 19–36 months. Use those groups as a starting point for customer-recency questions, with the individual customer’s service history providing necessary context.
Investigate a change with a consistent scope
Select the period you want to review, then confirm any tag, lead-source or employee filters. Those settings remain in place when you move between reports. If you are doing a whole-business review after a narrow investigation, check that you have removed filters you no longer need.
For a made-up example, scheduled-job revenue of $20,000 with $5,000 outstanding gives $15,000 collected under the stated definition. A strong revenue total and a lower collected figure can both be correct. The next useful step is to review the outstanding invoices, not to assume the revenue chart is wrong.
- Check whether a movement comes from a few large jobs.
- Look at job-type revenue for changes in work mix.
- Read new customers separately from estimates given.
- Investigate cancellations before assuming why they occurred.
- Assign the question to the person who can verify the records.
Use revenue trends by service for a deeper review when a change in job mix appears to explain the overall movement.
Use the overview to choose where to spend attention
This report fits owners and managers who need a business-level review before looking at individual work. It is useful for deciding whether today’s deeper conversation belongs with dispatch, estimating, the office or the person responsible for customer follow-up.
Do not expect the overview to explain every cause. A rise in estimates given does not establish that the same estimates became completed jobs. A change in cancelled jobs needs a review of the circumstances. Let the chart identify a question, then confirm the explanation through the relevant records and staff.
Use owner morning reports to make that sequence a regular habit. Keep the review focused on a small number of questions with named owners so the overview leads to practical decisions rather than a tour through every available number.
Connect the data and understand update timing
ServicePro IQ connects directly to Housecall Pro and requires its MAX plan, because that plan provides API keys. An admin creates the key in the Housecall Pro App Store by searching for API and choosing Generate API key. We send a one-time link where you paste it. The link works for seven days, and only the newest link for your business works.
The key is checked when you paste it and stored encrypted. ServicePro IQ reads your Housecall Pro data without changing your account. Your contact tells you when your reports are ready. Job and revenue figures refresh hourly at 20 minutes past the hour. The customer list behind Unscheduled Customers and Pipeline refreshes once a day.

Frequently asked questions
What does Business Snapshot show year to date?
It shows year-to-date revenue, new customers and collected revenue, along with the number of unscheduled customers. Its other charts use the selected period, so check that scope when comparing figures.
Does every chart have a goal?
Business Snapshot shows each chart against its goal where one is set. ServicePro IQ sets monthly goals for revenue, new customers and estimates given. Do not assume every chart has a goal simply because another one does.
How should I use the previous-period comparison?
Use it to identify a change worth investigating. Check date ranges, filters and whether the current period is complete. Then examine the work or customer activity behind the movement before deciding what caused it.
