Give your revenue target a daily working plan

A monthly revenue target should help you plan the work ahead. ServicePro IQ suggests goals from your own history and lets you adjust them. The Daily Huddle then shows scheduled revenue against each day’s goal, giving the team a specific number to discuss.

A monthly number needs a realistic shape

An HVAC business may expect a different workload in a busy cooling month than during a quieter stretch. A landscaping company may have work concentrated on particular weekdays. Dividing every target equally across calendar days can hide the way the business actually operates.

The practical question is what work you can responsibly deliver. A target should prompt a conversation about scheduling, capacity and suitable follow-up. It should not become a reason to book work the crew cannot complete or recommend services a customer does not need.

Separate the revenue planning conversation from the profit conversation. Hitting a sales target does not establish that the work was profitable. Keep profit per job in the review when you assess the result.

Start with history and choose your goal rule

ServicePro IQ sets monthly goals for revenue, new customers and estimates given. Each suggested goal starts with the same month last year, grown by your recent trend of 0% to 15%, never below last year. That is a suggestion based on your own history, not an industry benchmark.

You can replace the suggestion with a fixed monthly amount, a percentage above or below it, or a starting goal that grows by a set percentage each year. You can also set any single month by hand. A new rule does not change the goals of months already past.

Fixed and growth goals can follow your seasons. The month’s goal is spread across days according to how your work usually falls across the week. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas receive no goal.

Use the daily gap to choose a sensible next step

Open the Daily Huddle and look at scheduled revenue against the day’s goal. For a made-up example, $6,000 scheduled against a $7,000 goal leaves a $1,000 gap. That describes the current plan. It does not predict how much cash will arrive or tell you which job to add.

Ask the office whether suitable work is ready to book, then ask the crew leader whether capacity is available. If the day is already committed to a complex installation, do not ignore that constraint just because the target is higher. A useful goal helps you make a considered choice.

  1. Confirm the date and reporting scope.
  2. Compare scheduled revenue with the daily goal.
  3. Identify a realistic action and its owner.
  4. Review the result at the next relevant meeting.

The Revenue page also shows a running-total line against the revenue goal. Use daily revenue reporting to keep the daily discussion connected to the wider period.

Keep target decisions with the right people

Revenue goals fit owners and managers who need to translate a monthly plan into routine decisions. They are especially useful when a flat target would overlook the shape of seasonal work. Review a proposed goal against your staffing and delivery plans before adopting it.

Only users who can manage users can change goals. Everyone else with access can view them. That gives you a clear way to share the target while keeping changes with the people responsible for the plan. Explain the reasoning behind a revision so the team knows what changed.

Use team goal tracking to organize the follow-up around revenue, new customers and estimates. Keep each measure’s meaning clear: activity, scheduled revenue and collected money are related, but they are not interchangeable.

Connect the reporting to Housecall Pro

ServicePro IQ connects directly to Housecall Pro and requires its MAX plan, because that plan provides API keys. An admin creates the key in the Housecall Pro App Store by searching for API and choosing Generate API key. We send a one-time link where you paste it. The link works for seven days, and only the newest link for your business works.

The key is checked when you paste it and stored encrypted. ServicePro IQ reads your Housecall Pro data without changing your account. Your contact tells you when your reports are ready. Job and revenue figures refresh hourly at 20 minutes past the hour, so allow for that timing when reviewing a recent schedule change.

Read about ServicePro IQ for Housecall Pro before connecting. One flat subscription covers unlimited users and reports; see pricing for payment options. Start with a free 7-day trial, with no credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

Can I lower a suggested goal?

Yes. You can use a percentage below the suggestion, choose a fixed monthly amount or set a single month manually. The suggested starting point itself is never below the same month last year.

Will changing a rule rewrite past goals?

No. A new goal rule never changes goals for months already past. That lets you review previous periods against their existing goals rather than a newly revised target.

Does every day get an equal target?

No. The monthly goal is spread using the way your work usually falls across the week, and the six specified holidays receive no goal. Seasonal settings are available for fixed and growth goals.
